THREAD STANDS

I made these thread stands for our upcoming TBASSS (The Bitchin' and Stitchin' Sewing Sisters) (Used to be the The Broke Ass Sisters Sewing Soiree') I always like to make a little something for our get-togethers and decided this would be it for this year. I asked DH to rout and drill the bases and cut the doweling for me, which he graciously did but after I started, I couldn't stop..these were so much fun to make! The best thing about them though is that you can use any kind of spool with any sewing machine with these stands.
Nest post, I'll show you my new ripper helper that I designed and had Ted turn on the lathe for me!
Until then....keep on sewing!

2013 Craft show

I have sew neglected my blog this past year! This is the craft show that Ted and I did this year. It was not the most successful show I've done, but we had a great time and I got lots of compliments on my work and that's always fun.
I did something a little different this year.  I brought my Juki sewing machine and demonstrated Free Motion Quilting from my booth.  It did attract crowds and LOTS of questions about what I was doing.  Interestingly enough, I heard a lot of people thought the machine was doing all the work and when I told them all my machine could do was a straight stitch and that I was controlling the stitches, there was some major jaw dropping going on!  On a more serious note, I feel that I educated some folks about how much work goes into making a quilt and that it is not something that just happens when you sew some scraps together!
Here are some photos of my booth and some of the items (but by no means all) that I had for sale.
My biggest seller by far was the microwave bowls.

Well the craft show is done.  We had a really good time, met some wonderful people who showed appreciation for our 'creative talent' and we made a little money too.  I have orders for a purse and my Asian quilt was put 'on layaway.'   She will stop and make payments on it at our store. In the meantime, I keep the quilt until it's paid off.  She came back to our booth 4 or 5 times to pet the quilt but she did not try to get the price down and she admitted it was underpriced as it was.
Ted sold some of his pens and a couple of other small items.  We bartered a bit and I got a hanging vegetable basket for onions or potatoes. Lots of folks petted the elephant, the cat purse and the dragon but no takers on those.  All in all I think we did pretty well for first timers.

This was before the lights went out and before the event started

Had I know we would be working in a cave, I would have worn my fake animal skins...

I'm ready for the craft fair!

It has been suggested that I sell some of my items here on my blog.  I'm not set up to do so but if you will email me about the items you are interested in, we can exchange phone numbers so I can take a credit card number.  My blog is not secure, so please do NOT email CC numbers! Thanks, Diana
